Hotel Melodia del Bosco in Alta Badia, Dolomites

The Dolomites are listed as Unesco World Natural Heritage for a good reason – the region is definitely one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world. That’s why we have been planning to explore the Dolomites in summer for a long time! For our short trip to South Tyrol (Alto Adige), we have chosen the hotel “Melodia del Bosco“. Anni has already been there with her family a few times for skiing and she remembered the hotel very well. So much in advance: Also during the summer, the hotel is an excellent base for numerous activities!

The Hotel was our base for 3 days to visit the most beautiful sights in the Dolomites.

Disclaimer: For this article, the Hotel provided us a three-night stay in the Junior Suite.

The location of the hotel in the Dolomites

Located in the heart of the western Dolomites, the Hotel Melodia del Bosco is a great starting point to explore the famous mountain region with its mighty limestone rock formations. The hotel is located on the edge of the village of Badia, which in turn, is part of the internationally renowned ski area and the Alta Badia region of the same name.

Alta Badia or the Badia Valley (also known as Val Badia) is located between two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: The “Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park” and the “Puez-Odle Nature Park“. Both nature parks are in summer – with some of the absolute top sights of the Dolomites – fantastic areas for hiking and mountain biking.

The Hotel Melodia del Bosco

The modern and at the same time traditional wooden architecture of the Hotel creates a pleasant atmosphere and cozy vacation comfort. Under the management of the Irsara family, an authentic and well maintained 3-star hotel awaits you on the edge of an idyllic mountain forest between green mountain meadows.

Breakfast

For breakfast, there is a large buffet with coffee/tea, fruit, cheese, sausage, jams, muesli, bread and pastries. Due to Covid-19, the buffet is much smaller and if you wish you can have various things brought directly to the table. For vegans, the choice is mainly limited to muesli or jam bread.

Dinner

The evening menu usually varies with Ladin, South Tyrolean and vegetarian dishes (also gluten-free). It consists of 6 courses, so that even particularly hungry stomachs will be satisfied 😉 On request we also have a completely vegan menu. But we have to admit that we sometimes lacked a little spice. From Annis parents we know that the “normal” menu was always very tasty.

The Junior Suite is very spacious with its 40 m². A huge king-size bed promises a restful sleep and the living area with couch, table and TV invites you to relax.

How to get to Badia

From the north

Badia can be easily reached from the north via the Brenner Pass on the A22 freeway or on the SS12 state road to Brixen/Bressanone. Continue along the SS49 (also E66) into the Puster Valley and just before Bruneck/Brunico, a well-developed state road (SS244) leads to the right into the Badia Valley and then to Badia (Abtei).

From the south

Those arriving from the direction of Bozen/Bolzano leave the A22 freeway shortly after Kollmann and take the SS242 and SS243 to Kurfar and then the state road to the north until Badia (Abtei).

Summary

We had a wonderful stay at Melodia del Bosco in Alta Badia. We liked the modern architecture, the simplicity of the hotel and the beautiful room. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous throughout, but reserved and discreet.

Based on our positive experience, we can definitely recommend a stay at the Hotel Melodia del Bosco – whether in summer or winter.
